About Mutuals

Mutuals is an app for iPhone and Android where you talk to AI characters, called companions. They remember what you tell them and bring it up later, they write first, and they are there at any hour. Every character is AI and every reply is generated.

Who makes it

Mutuals is made and operated by Flarewave AI Limited, a company in Hong Kong (Room 12, 6/F, The Cloud, 111 Tung Chau Street, Tai Kok Tsui, Kowloon). The same team writes the blog, draws the comics, and answers [email protected].

What it is, and what it is not

• Companions are software, not people. No human writes or reviews their replies.
• It is not a dating app. There is no one real on the other side to meet.
• It is for adults only, 18 and over.
• It speaks fifteen languages: English, Spanish, Arabic, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Portuguese, Korean, German, French, Hindi, Indonesian, Turkish, Vietnamese and Thai.
• It is free to download and to start. Free messages are limited, and some features need a subscription or a one-off purchase through the App Store or Google Play.

What happens to what you tell it

We store your conversations, and they are sent to third-party AI companies to generate replies. Today that is OpenRouter, which routes to model providers including OpenAI, Anthropic and Google. We build a memory of things you tell a companion so it can bring them up later; it is a profile of you, built from what you say.

We do not sell your data, and we do not use your conversations to train AI models. We do not claim your conversations are private from us. When you delete your account, conversations, memory and account go with it. The privacy policy says all of this in full, including the parts people are usually surprised by.
